A Common Repository for Documents and Data Alike

The following resources are part of the greater information pool which is Cultural Heritage:

  1. (Museum) Records:

These are single museum records describing museum objects. The HyperRecord markup language schema might be used, but also any other schema.

  2. Inventories:

These are mostly entry books, acquisition lists, collection inventories, etcetera in table form. Each have to be digitalized with its own particular schema.

  3. Historic Text Documents:

These are text documents describing acquisitions, restoration reports, opinions, contracts etcetera including letters. They are digitalized using the DocBook or TEI schema.

  4. Text Documents:

These are archival documents, scientific articles, etcetera which come from external sources but relate in one way or the other to the museum patrimony and its history. Most of these can be digitalized using the DocBook/TEI schemata, too, or we can use the OpenDocument Format.

Thus it is possible not only to describe the CH patrimony itself but also to have all the contextual documentation at hand: the finding and collocation of museum objects, their history, restoration etcetera including archival documentation and scientific articles.
